Easy DIY Project To Revamp Built-In Units
A fun way to update your house with recycled supplies
My mother recently reached out about a project she’s been working on and wanted to share it with others. She revamped a shelved alcove in her house, modernizing it with a pop of color and opening up the space.
Do you live in a home with some interesting built-in features that you either don’t use or want to change? Here’s an easy way to DIY a change and even reuse supplies instead of buying new ones.
As you can see in the before picture below, the shelved alcove featured a top section that was closed off with cabinet doors, two shelves within the open middle section, and a lower section with two cabinet doors, taller than the top section.
My mother’s goal was to remove the cabinet doors to provide more of a display and add more shelves.
Below are the steps she used to revamp this shelved alcove.
- Unscrew the doors and any hardware to remove them.
- Take a crowbar to remove the trim of the cabinet doors.
