A composite of images of a total solar eclipse on a black background. Starging from the left, the Moon begins to cover the Sun demonstrated by a black disc on the Sun’s right. Each progressive picture shows the black disc covering more and more of the Sun until it completely covers it, leaving a shining white aura around the black disc. The next picture shows the burst of light as the Sun reemerges.

As we near the total solar eclipse on April 8th, it provides the perfect opportunity to reflect on the last one and how life has changed in different ways.

The last American total solar eclipse was on August 21, 2017, just under seven years ago.
